UPDATE 1/24/24 5:53 p.m.: The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the victim injured in the shooting.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, the victim was identified as 48-year-old Lacoya Whittlesey. Whittlesey was pronounced dead at 4:58 p.m. due to a gunshot wound to the torso.
UPDATE 1/24/24 4:36 p.m.: According to the Columbus Police Department, the individual injured in this shooting is in critical condition.
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — An investigation is underway after one person was injured in a shooting on late Wednesday afternoon, according to the Columbus Police Department.
Multiple Columbus police officers are present at the scene near Decatur Court and Flemming Avenue.
The condition of the victim is not known at this time.
