Georgia Republican State Convention returning to Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) – The 2024 Georgia Republican State Convention is returning to Columbus for a second consecutive year.

In June of last year more than 3,000 Republican delegates, alternates and guests met in Columbus at the Trade Center for the state convention. They will be back this year May 16 through May 18 at the Trade Center.

The main highlight of last year’s convention was the keynote speaker former President Donald Trump, which happened in a non-election year.

One key difference in this year’s convention is that it will happen before an expectedly intense November election that includes the presidential race.

WRBL’s Chuck Williams sat down with Alton Russell, a member of the Republican committee to discuss what Columbus natives can expect with the state convention coming back. The full interview can be viewed in the player above.
