COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Ending the week with some great weather in the forecast. Waking up to some 30s and 40s across the region under mostly cloudy skies; however, the clouds slowly move out with more sunny skies later this afternoon. Temperatures climb into the upper 60s and low 70s today.
Today is Groundhog Day and the results are in:
- Punxsutawney Phil has predicted an early spring.
- General Beauregard Lee has predicted an early spring
Here’s a look back at how well Punxsutawney Phil has done over the last 10 years.
Tonight staying mild with temperatures in the 40s under mostly clear skies. Saturday will definitely be the winner over the weekend with temperatures in the upper 60s ahead of a very complex storm system. Rain chances increase into early Sunday with showers pretty much steady all day.
A wedge front moves in from the east helping temperatures to remain very chilly throughout Sunday while an upper level low approaches from the west. These battling systems will create a cold rain event for Sunday while kicking up wind gusts upwards of 20-30 mph.
