LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) — A Smiths Station man was arrested on several charges after the sheriff’s office found stolen property in a local storage unit.
The investigation began in January when the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) received multiple burglary and theft reports from storage units on Lee Road 286 in Smiths Station.
On Jan. 25, LCSO says the suspect was identified as Kenneth Dale Jackson, 37, through video surveillance.
Deputies pulled Jackson over on Feb. 1. The office says it recovered a handgun, methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, baseballs, a baseball bag and batting gloves.
Investigation showed the baseball equipment was stolen from Glenwood School. The handgun was also stolen, according to LCSO.
Phenix City detectives began helping with the case. Officials searched a storage unit owned by one of Jackson’s family members and found the following:
- Baseball equipment
- Softball equipment
- About 15 medallions
- About 15 championship rings
All property was stolen from Glenwood School, according to the investigation.
