Second Wilson Apartments gang-murder trial underway with one co-defendant on the run and the other to be tried separately

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The trial of three men accused in the June 2021 shooting death of Marcel Samedi at Wilson Apartments is underway.

This is the second Wilson Apartments gang-murder case to be tried in Muscogee County in the last three months. Like the one that resulted in three murder and gang convictions, this one is being tried by the Georgia Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution unit.

Tuesday morning Davion Dupas, Corey Troupe Jr., and Jeheim Davis were in court as attorneys worked through a tedious jury selection process.

There were two co-defendants who were not in court today. One is Elysia Cooley and the other is Michael Brown. Cooley and Brown, like the other three, ]were indicted in October 2022 on gang and murder charges.

Cooley’s case has been severed from the others and she is expected to be a witness in the trial against Dupas, Troupe and Davis.

Brown, though indicted and accused, has never been arrested. Prosecutors told the judge on Monday they did not know where Brown was.
