COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — The gang-murder trial of three men accused in a 2021 Wilson Apartments shooting has moved into its fourth day.
The case against Davion Dupas, Corey Troupe Jr., and Jeheim Davis moved from the jury selection facility on Comer Avenue to a 10-th-floor courtroom inside the Government Center.
The co-defendants are accused of shooting to death Marcel Samedi in a gang-dispute in June 2021.
It took three days and long hours from Senior Superior Court Judge Richard T. Winegarden, prosecutors, defense attorneys and prospective jurors to get to opening statements and the beginning of the state’s case Thursday morning.
Winegarden put the potential jurors on notice earlier in the week he expected to work into the evenings as he pushed to get what was expected to be a two-week trail centered around gang activity to a verdict.
Wednesday they worked until about 9 p.m. before a jury was seated. On Tuesday, the trial went until almost 8 p.m. as tedious questioning of prospective jurors was conducted by attorneys.
