Meet Dr. Rocky Marsh one of the candidates for Columbus City Council District 10 seat

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — Thursday night, WRBL caught up with one of the four candidates running for the District 10 City Council seat at a listen-and-learn event.

The seat is currently held by Councilor Tyson Begly, who took the position after former-Councilor John House stepped down last year for personal reasons.

District 10 candidate Dr. Rocky Marsh officially announced his candidacy for City Council in April of last year. The Mobile, Ala., native studied at Trident University in Cypress, Calif., and graduated with a doctorate in education.

Marsh moved to Columbus after serving 20 years in the military and is currently the director of membership experience at the River Valley Black Chamber of Commerce and president of the Fountain City Mardi Gras Association.

Marsh’s campaign slogan is “Committed to Columbus.” He says his dedication to the community’s people is unwavering.

“What I want to do is be a partner to our city. When citizens come to the city council and address issues, they are heard. But then what happens after that?” Marsh said. “What I would love to do is be a partner to our community, to not only support them but be a partner in solving the issues that come before them and hope to get a resolution together as a community.”
