COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) – The Columbus Police Department announced the official launch of the agency’s latest public safety initiative, a real time crime center.
The real time crime center is part of CPD’s Cloud platform created to provide crucial information that CPD says speeds the amount of time it takes to conduct investigation and emergency response to critical incidents, which in turn keeps citizens and businesses safe.
The crime center is powered by Fusus and also features a camera registry. CPD launched the program “hoping that citizens and business owners will register their surveillance cameras and help create a community-wide public safety ecosystem.” You can find more information about CPD’s camera registry here.
In addition to launching the crime center and camera registry, CPD says businesses now have the option to upgrade their security systems to include live video feeds to the police department. Through installing a small CORE device on a business’s network, live video feeds will be shared with CPD during emergencies to improve police response and ensure employee safety.
