COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The Columbus Police Department continues to search for a wanted man in a 2023 shooting investigation near 8th Ave that left Javon Smith dead. According to officials, on September 11, 2023, around 11:23 p.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to the 3400 block of 8th Avenue (Wilson Apartments) about a person down. They say they found Smith suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived.
