Multiple local agencies respond to tractor trailer fire on Highway 280

SMITHS STATION, Ala. ( WRBL ) — Local first responders worked to put out a tractor trailer fire on a major highway early Wednesday morning.

Smiths Station Fire & Rescue says its agency responded to the fire at Highway 280 west in front of Summerlake Apartments at about 1:30 a.m. ET, 12:30 a.m. CT.

Phenix City Fire/Rescue, Beulah Fire Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Alabama Emergency Management Agency also worked the fire.

Lee County Alabama Emergency Management Agency says the roadway has since re-opened.
