COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Monday morning! Starting the day off cool with temperatures dipping into the mid to low 60s. A few rural areas are likely seeing temperatures in the 50s under clear skies. A few areas of light fog are also possible as we head towards daybreak, but get ready for another warm day.
Afternoon temperatures climb into the upper 80s under a mix of sun and clouds today while we track a weak cold front that slides into the region This front will go largely unnoticed; however, it will bring in a drop of dew points especially heading towards the midweek.
Big story across the Gulf Coast is Hurricane Milton. Milton quickly strengthened into a hurricane over the weekend and is still anticipated to undergo rapid intensification as it traverses across the warm waters of the gulf.
Milton is forecasted to reach category 4 hurricane strength as early as Tuesday morning; however, the storm will likely encounter wind shear and dry air helping to weaken it before landfall. Although it weakens slightly, Milton is still forecasted to impact the gulf coast of Florida as a major hurricane.
