Spring Cove Apartment residents look toward an uncertain future after water controversy

COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — Residents of the Spring Cove Apartment complex are left wondering if the basic necessity of water is something they can count on in the future.

Spring Cove Apartments, Crystal Creek Apartments, Crystal Fall Apartments and Crystal Valley Apartments all had their water shut off and then turned back on in a span of four hours, Monday.

Columbus Realty Group LLC, the owner of the properties, made payments the afternoon of Oct. 21, and Columbus Water Works then returned water to the property after they turned it off earlier in the morning. This comes after Columbus Water Works posted signs at the entrances to the properties back in early October, saying services would be discontinued due to the property owners failing to make payments.

Vic Burchfield, Senior Vice President of Columbus Water Works says payments have been received for the properties and situations like this get solved shortly after the signs go up.

“Well, in many cases, the signs, once they go up, the apartment complex will settle the account,” Burchfield said. “So it’s a period of time as part of the process to allow the residents to know what’s going on. And then oftentimes that will help to encourage the management to go ahead and settle the account.”
