OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) – Opelika High School went into lockdown on Tuesday, October 22, after school officials were alerted to a potential external threat. According to Opelika School Resource Officers, the lockdown was initiated at 10:45 a.m. to protect students, teachers, and staff.
“Everyone is safe,” school officials tell WRBL, assuring parents and the community. Opelika Police are investigating the situation and have set up a perimeter around the campus.
Parents are advised no one is allowed on the school grounds at this time. Those arriving are being directed to the back parking lot of Southern Union until further updates are provided. WRBL will follow up when the all-clear is issued.
