Elite 8 matchups for three Savannah area softball teams still alive in playoffs

Three softball teams from the Greater Savannah area are still alive in the Georgia High School Association softball playoffs as the squads make the trip to Columbus to compete in the Elite Eight.

Savannah Christian made the cut after going on the road to sweep Lovett in a double-header last week, while cross-county rivals South Effingham and Effingham County reached the quarterfinals once again.

Here’s a look at the matchups for the area teams as they fight to win a state championship in the Elite Eight, where teams play head-to-head matchups (not double-headers as in the first two rounds of the playoffs), in brackets where two losses knock teams out of the competition.

The Raiders had a bye in the first round before going on the road to dominate Lovett by scores of 12-0 and 14-2 with pitcher Jillian Austin going the distance and pitching four innings in each game (which ended by the 10-run rule).
