COLUMBUS, Ga. ( WRBL ) — For some, casting their ballots in the presidential election has become a tradition every four years. For others, including many local college students, the 2024 election was a first chance at voting for president.
“We are the people that are supposed to pave the way for the next generation. And using your voice can better the world,” Snowe Sellers, 20, a Columbus State University (CSU) junior, said.
Sellers continued, “I feel like it’s really important that you take the election and all your voting seriously because it can affect you, can affect the people around you. It can affect how you go to school.”
Earlier this week, Former President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump became president elect, beating Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump earned 50.7% of Georgia’s vote.

According to statistics from the Associated Press Votecast, in the 2024 presidential election 52% of voters aged 18 to 29 voted for democratic candidate Kamala Harris; 46% for Trump.
