Police arrested the parents of an 8-month-old who allegedly suffocated to death after becoming wedged between a mattress and a couch cushion in their disgusting home .
Georgia authorities reprimanded the couple, 27-year-old Kiara Davis and 24-year-old Miguel Badillo, last week on charges of second-degree murder, second-degree child cruelty and drug possession. When officers arrived to the home in Rosemont Drive in Columbus on Sept. 27, they found the baby lying unresponsive.
The cause of death was later determined to be asphyxiation. The deceased girl has been awkwardly placed down for a nap on an angled mattress on a small two-seat couch, detectives said, while Davis spoke to a friend outside. Badillo was not home at the time, authorities said.

The infant inevitably rolled off and ended up between the mattress and couch cushions as “no safety measures were put in place to prevent” that outcome, police said.
