COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Friday morning! Wedge of cooler air and clouds remain entrenched across the region for today helping to keep temperatures in the 50s this afternoon and evening.
Tonight, some left over energy slips into the region primarily after midnight with some showers and few rumbles of thunder possible.
For the weekend we are Weather Aware ahead of a strong storm system that will likely cause strong to severe storms across the southeast. We are under a Marginal (⅕) risk for severe storms. Damaging winds and possible tornadoes will be the main threats along with heavy rainfall. Best timing looks to be after midnight into the early morning hours of Sunday
Once this system clears the remainder of Sunday will see gradual clearing and breezy conditions. Remaining rain free for Monday before another system moves in for the new year.
More showers and storms likely on New Year’s Eve as another storm system moves through. This system does bring a much colder push of air behind it with lows in the 30s and highs in the low 50s by the end of next week.
