Big chill coming from an Arctic blast this week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Monday Morning! Starting the day off cloudy, rainy and windy with big changes coming after the frontal system passes shortly after daybreak.

Highs today have already been reached with readings in the 50s and 60s. Once the cold front pushes through the News 3 viewing area, temperatures will plummet and that cold arctic air will set into the region for the entire week.

Midday temperatures will be in the low 40s with afternoon temperatures in the low 40s and upper 30s. It will feel quite colder than that with a brisk northwest wind gusting to 30 mph at times throughout the remainder of the day.

The week ahead remains similar with morning lows in the 20s and highs in the 40s. Thankfully the winds should start to taper off by the midweek, but we’re gearing up for another storm system by Friday and the early part of the weekend.

This next storm system arrives with a cold soaking rain throughout the day Friday and there is a chance for a few snow flurries on the backside of this system as it exits Saturday.
