Bowles Homers, Morrison Extends Hit Streak Against Columbus State

Columbus, Ga. – Augusta’s Mike Morrison extended his hitting streak to 29 straight games and Rushton Bowles hit his first homer of the year, but it was not enough as the Jaguars fall to Columbus State 10-5 Friday. AU is now 5-11 in Peach Belt Conference play and 9-28 overall. The Cougars improve to 8-8 in the conference and 18-15 overall.

Columbus State jumped out to a big lead scoring the first eight runs of the game before Augusta could dent the scoreboard. In the fourth, they climbed right back into the game by scoring five runs. With one out, Morrison singled, extending his hit streak to 29 straight games. Following a wild pitch and a walk, Aidan Cannaday would deliver a two-run double plating the first runs of the game. With two outs, Bowles would pinch hit and deliver a three-run homer, his first of the year, to make it an 8-5 game.

But the Jaguars would be unable to inch any closer as they drop the series opener to the Cougars…
