Jags Drop Their First Game of the Conference Tournament, Play Again Saturday Night

Dahlonega, Ga. – In a winner’s bracket game of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, Columbus State knocked off Augusta 6-1 as AU suffers their first loss in the double elimination tournament. The Jaguars are 13-39 on the year while the Cougars are 29-20. Augusta is scheduled to play late Saturday against either North Georgia or Georgia Southwestern.

CSU plated four runs in the second inning to take the early lead. A hit by a pitch, an error, walk, a wild pitch and a three-run double were the big plays in the frame for the Cougars.

CSU would lead 5-0 before Augsuta got on the scoreboard in the fifth. A one out walk to Ty McClintock would get the Jags going. Zach Kwiatkowski would double moving McClintock to third. Nolan Turner would lift a sacrifice fly to plate the only AU run of the game…
