Columbus children’s book author, Strut the Hooch parade founder Steve Scott dies

Columbus resident Steve Scott, known for his children’s books and heading the Strut the Hooch parade, died Monday at the age of 82.

Scott was pronounced dead at St. Francis-Emory Hospital, Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan told the Ledger-Enquirer. He had a “natural manner of death,” Bryan said in a text message.

The author was also a Vietnam veteran, musician, blogger and former president of the Auburn University Alumni Band.
