Alabama Flood Watch: Central Counties Face Urban Flooding Risk Through Midnight Tonight

Birmingham, Alabama – Much of Central Alabama is under a Flood Watch through midnight Tuesday, with saturated ground and more heavy rainfall creating a high risk of rapid runoff and localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, rainfall over the past 48 hours has left the soil across central Alabama unable to absorb additional moisture. With more storms expected this afternoon and evening, the risk for flooding is highest in urban areas, low-lying spots, and near small creeks and rivers.

The watch includes Birmingham, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, and Selma. Roads with poor drainage may become hazardous, and emergency officials urge drivers to avoid flooded routes and never attempt to cross water-covered roads.
