Summer library program focuses on teen cuisine, tasty and lean

Russell County-Phenix City Public Library offers more than just the smell of old books and quiet reading corners. Thanks to the library’s innovative Summer Reading program, a new and delicious aroma now fills the air, one of sizzling vegetables, sautéed spices, and wholesome meals prepared by local teens participating in the popular Teen Cuisine program.

Dubbed “My Plate for My Family,” this special Teen Cuisine event kicks off every Friday at 2 p.m. and has become a vibrant gathering place for middle and high school students eager to learn their way around the kitchen. Beyond just a cooking class, the program is a fun, hands-on educational experience that teaches teens essential life skills such as preparing balanced meals, understanding nutrition, and making healthy choices for themselves and their families.
