Heroes helping heroes : The Red Line Fund in action

The Red Line Fund, a volunteer-operated, donation-driven nonprofit, is on a mission to support the everyday heroes who put their lives on the line. Dedicated entirely to aiding local firefighters, EMTs, and their families, the organization ensures that those who protect our community never stand alone in their time of need.

It all began when Halloween came around in 2021, and 5-year-old Parker Burton faced a disappointment that would eventually transform into a local movement that would touch hundreds of lives. His bonus dad, Columbus firefighter AJ Burton, was scheduled to work that night, leaving the young man disappointed about missing trick-or-treating. But instead of sulking, he came up with an idea that would grow into something far greater than anyone imagined.

“We went and purchased enough candy for all of the (Columbus) fire stations, and Parker hand-delivered them,” his mother, Morgan Burton, recalls…
