Russell County sheriff warns residents of phone scam

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) – The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a phone scam making the rounds this week.

Sheriff Heath Taylor says callers are pretending to be with the sheriff’s office, claiming the person missed a court date and must pay immediately. Taylor says it is a scam and urges anyone who receives one of these calls to hang up and never send money.
