Update: Prepare for strong thunderstorms in Lee and Russell counties Friday afternoon – gusts may reach 40 mph

The National Weather Service issued an updated report at 2:20 p.m. on Friday for strong thunderstorms until 2:45 p.m. for Lee and Russell counties.

Residents can look for wind gusts of up to 40 mph.

“At 2:19 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a cluster of strong thunderstorms over Beauregard, or near Opelika, moving southeast at 15 mph,” describes the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”…
