Isolated to Scattered Storms Today, Then Drier To Start The Week!

TODAY:We’re waking up to temperatures mainly in the low 70s under mostly sunny skies. This afternoon, we’ll turn partly to mostly cloudy with some isolated showers and storms possible. An area of low pressure to our southeast will help kick up some activity, mainly for Georgia, so from Columbus eastward will see the best chances for rain. Most of East Alabama will remain dry.

WEEK AHEAD:We’ll start the week much drier with afternoons in the mid-90s under mostly sunny skies and only a stray shower possible, but most of you will stay dry and hot. Then midweek, a stationary front drifts southward into the southeast and that should help kick up a few more isolated showers and storms by Thursday, with scattered showers and storms by Friday and the upcoming weekend.

TROPICS:Hurricane Erin rapidly strengthened into a major hurricane overnight with max sustained winds now at 145 mph as of the 8am advisory! Erin is just north of the Leeward Islands with some outer bands affecting the northern Leeward Island, but the worst of the weather should stay to the north as Erin moves off to the west-northwest at 20 mph. The good news is, Erin is expected to curve northward, then northeastward, and eventually away from the United States, although she is expected to produce some dangerous waves and rip currents along the East Coast…
