A Mayberry feeling takes over local barbershop

Several pieces of historic memorabilia connected to the “Andy Griffith Show” have found a new home in Smiths Station, and anyone can come check them out. Justin Mangum, the owner of Justin’s Barbershop, recently purchased the items from the historic Floyd’s City Barber Shop in Griffith’s hometown of Mount Airy, N.C.

The fictional Floyd’s Barber Shop and Floyd the Barber from the “Andy Griffith Show” were based on Floyd’s City Barber Shop and its owner, Russell Hiatt, in Mount Airy. Griffith frequented the shop while growing up.
