COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – After years of debate and growing concerns over safety and infrastructure, the Columbus City Council has approved a proposal to relocate the Muscogee County Jail. The measure passed Tuesday night in a 7–1 vote.
The current jail, located on 10th Street, has stood for more than 100 years and has faced numerous issues, including a leaking roof and persistent mold. The approved plan will move the facility to 11th Avenue.
