The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored longtime WTVM anchor Cheryl Renee with induction into the prestigious Silver Circle, recognizing more than 25 years of excellence in broadcast journalism.
Renee, who has anchored News Leader 9’s morning and noon newscasts for more than two decades, is one of the Chattahoochee Valley’s most trusted voices in news. The Silver Circle honors media professionals who have dedicated at least 25 years to television in performing, creative, technical, or administrative roles, as well as related fields such as journalism education, advertising, and public relations.
A graduate of Spelman College, Syracuse University, and Case Western Reserve University, Renee began her television career at WKTV-TV (NBC) in Utica, N.Y., as a general assignment reporter. She later worked in Savannah at WTOC-TV (CBS) as a producer, reporter, and weekend morning anchor, before moving to WSAV-TV (NBC) as a reporter and weekend evening anchor. She joined WTVM in Columbus more than 20 years ago, becoming a familiar face to viewers across the region.
Beyond the anchor desk, Renee has been called on to emcee major community events, including serving as commencement speaker for Georgia Military College’s Columbus campus in 2017.
