COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Concerns are growing about safety and security inside the Muscogee County Jail for both inmates and employees after a prisoner was able to manipulate a faulty lock, leading to the arrest of a medical provider accused of having sex with him.
The jail, on 10th Street in Columbus, has stood for more than 100 years, with mold in the building and a leaking roof adding to daily challenges. The most pressing issue now, according to jail leadership, is the outdated security system.
