Indivisible Columbus and Phenix City chapters showed up on the steps of the federal courthouse for a “Release Rodney Rally” in Columbus today. Rodney Taylor is a disabled double amputee and beloved Atlanta barber currently being detained at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia.
Amy Bruce with Indivisible Phenix City said the reason this is important is because Taylor “was promised a date that he would receive an answer on whether or not he could return to his family or return to a country he’s never known and it’s past the time. They said 30 days and its past that.” Bruce said Taylor is a barber who “gives away free haircuts to people who need them. He’s a good man.”
Others attended the rally to express displeasure with the current administration’s immigration policies. “I really feel like we are in such dire straits in the country as much as the Civil Rights movement maybe…I just hate what we’re doing with ICE and the immigrants.
