Opelika removes Miss America signs honoring Mallory Hagan after Kirk comments

OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) – The City of Opelika has taken down the “Home of Mallory Hagan Miss America 2013” signs after more than a decade, a decision that has split the community with both sharp criticism and strong support.

Mayor Gary Fuller ordered the signs removed, saying he has the authority to do so. The move followed a petition and growing backlash after a video surfaced of Hagan criticizing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which some residents viewed as divisive.
