There is just something special about this area when it comes to bees. A year ago, David and Lori White of Phenix City won numerous awards at the Georgia Beekeeper’s Association Honey Show, but just missed out on the Grand Champion ribbon.
This year was entirely different. The Whites’ incredible run started in January when they attended the National Beekeeper’s Association convention. On a whim, the couple entered just five categories in the largest Honey Show in the country. To their surprise, they were named winner of the Best Mead in North America category.
“It was a big surprise,” said David White. “When the show ended, the judge from Northern Ireland took all of my extra bottles of mead.”…
