George Staudinger has been with the Phenix City Police Department since 1992 – a total of 33 years. He went from Senior Captain to Assistant Chief in 2021, taking the office formerly held by Assistant Chief Gail Green-Gilliam, who tragically lost her life to COVID-19 in 2020, and took on the role of Phenix City Police Chief in 2023, after the retirement of Ray Smith.

Before becoming Chief, Staudinger worked in Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Administration, and served as commander of the Special Response Team.
