Wesleyan Softball Chasing 5th Straight State Championship in Columbus

Once again, it is the last week of October. And once again, Wesleyan fastpitch softball is playing its best.

The Wolves are back in Columbus for the final rounds of the state tournament, looking for a fifth consecutive state title. The classification has changed over the years — the Wolves are now in the Private class after previously winning it all in AAA and A Private — but the program’s success has not.

“There’s a lot of kids that are familiar, but there’s also a handful that aren’t,” Wesleyan head coach Savannah Huffstetler Peppers said. “Two freshmen starting who have never even been to Columbus, and then we have a kid like Chloe Hurd, who started at second base last year, but as the flex, so she didn’t hit. Rhiyan Fairman was on the team last year but didn’t play, she’s the six-hole and brings a lot of pop to our lineup.”…
