Local shelter prepares for cold weather as fire safety concerns rise

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – As temperatures drop, Safe House Ministries is working to get homeless people off the streets and into warm shelter.

Director Neil Richardson said the organization expects roughly 50 to 60 people may need a warm place to sleep tonight. He said their mission extends beyond providing shelter.

“We made a promise a long time ago that we would always have a place that’s safe and warm,” Richardson said.

Shelter vans to pick up homeless individuals
