Food bank: Recovery from shutdown strain will take months

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Feeding the Valley Food Bank isn’t out of the woods, even as SNAP benefits begin to be restored.

Though the return of SNAP food assistance will ease some of the stress, on day 41 of the government shutdown, the food bank’s CEO Frank Sheppard said it’s not enough to fully help local families or replenish shelves.
