‘Street justice’ led to fatal shooting of Demetrius Wilkerson

Donald Fair is being held without bond after a preliminary hearing in Recorders Court Thursday November 13, 2025. Columbus Police SGT Robert Nicholas said Fair fired 9 rounds into the vehicle Demetrius Wilkerson was sitting along with Fair’s own 2-year-old daughter and the mother of the child at Azalea Ridge Apartments. The Muscogee County Coroner said Wilkerson died from multiple gunshot wounds in the early morning hours of November 8, 2025.

SGT Nicholas, the lead investigator on the case said the deadly shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation where Wilkerson allegedly fired multiple shots at Fair’s vehicle near the library. SGT Nicholas said Fair “did the right thing” at first and called police to file a report but three hours later took the law into his own hands exacting “street justice” when he allegedly opened fire killing Wilkerson. The gun found at Wilkerson’s feet matched the shell casings found in Fair’s vehicle from the earlier shooting…
