Columbus man pleads not guilty in deadly shooting involving his 2-year-old daughter

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A Columbus man charged with murder pleaded not guilty Wednesday during his first court appearance in connection with a deadly shooting on Boxwood Boulevard that involved his own 2-year-old daughter.

Donald Fair, 32, is accused of shooting and killing 30-year-old Demetrius Wilkerson in the parking lot of Azalea Ridge Apartments in Columbus on November 8.

Timeline of events

The incident began shortly after midnight on November 8 when Fair and the mother of his child, Bella Warren, got into an argument that resulted in a car chase to the library on Macon Road.

“While he was aggressively following her through this parking lot, Mr. Demetrius Wilkerson fired shots at him. Mr. Fair would leave the scene and make a police report of the incident. Three hours later, he would change vehicles and stood at the front of Miss Warren’s car and he fired nine rounds through the windshield into Mr. Wilkerson,” said Sgt.
