COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A new $130,000 security system was activated today at the Columbus City Services Center off Macon Road.
There were no long lines and it was taking most people 10 seconds or less to move through the security checkpoint around noon on Monday. The scanners are searching for guns and other weapons in a different way than the old metal detectors that are still in use at the Government Center.
That made one Columbus woman feel safer, and she thinks others will also feel safer in a building that houses the tax commissioner, elections and registration office and the city council chambers…
