Combat veteran launches campaign for Mayor of Columbus

Combat veteran Steve Kelly officially launched his campaign for Mayor of Columbus this Sunday in front of a handful of supporters. Kelly told those gathered he has five priorities, not talking points but priorities. “They are crime and public safety, poverty and homelessness, then you have youth engagement which actually goes hand in hand with number one. A lot of the crime being committed is being committed by the youth and then infrastructure and economic growth.”

Kelly told Now Network News that one side of town has been forgotten about in the grand scheme of things. “There’s several divides in the city, the biggest one being socioeconomic. We continue to build on the northside and out towards Midland but the southside is completely neglected. We need to rebuild what we have instead of continuing to build other places,” Kelly said.

When reminded that politics can be a contact sport in today’s political climate Kelly said “Ma’am that’s too easy. I did 20 years in the Army in combat arms none the less it doesn’t get more contact than that. I’m not afraid of anyone or anything. If somebody tries to stop a legitimate policy or something I am trying to work on I will expose them. I am not afraid to expose them. If me and my team are trying to do something good for Columbus and we start hitting roadblocks I’m gonna make it known publicly.”…
