COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Georgia Department of Transportation is asking for public input on a safety and connectivity upgrade for Buena Vista Road.
The state’s plans were outlined at a public meeting Thursday at Fluellen Recreation Center. Officials say sidewalks are sporadic, and some intersections need to be realigned to reduce crash risks.
“We’ll be taking the current three lane/two lane section, doing it fully three lanes, which means one traveling in each direction with turn lanes in the center.” William Eastin, the regional coordinator for the TIA program, said, “We’ll also be doing regular five-foot sidewalk on one side and then the multi-use trail, a wider sidewalk on the other side.”
Eastin says these features are designed to make the road safer, especially for pedestrians.
