Human remains found during welfare check in Lee County

SALEM, Ala. (WTVM) – Lee County deputies found human remains in the front yard of a home on Lee Road 205 Tuesday morning during a welfare check.

The discovery was made around 8 a.m. near the four-way stop at the intersection of Lee Roads 240 and 179, according to Sheriff Jay Jones.

“The remains were in a condition where significant deterioration occurred,” Jones said. “An extended period of time which would indicate being out the weather for not just a few weeks or so.”…
