With no buyers secured, Columbus and Opelika Winn-Dixie stores closing

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Two Winn-Dixie supermarkets in our area will close early next year after parent company Southeastern Grocers (SEG) was unable to secure buyers for the properties.

The stores at 6770 Veterans Parkway in Columbus and 1441 Fox Run Parkway in Opelika are expected to shut down in early 2026, SEG confirmed in a statement.

The closures will leave significant retail vacancies. The Columbus Winn-Dixie co-anchors North Columbus Crossing alongside Lowe’s, while the Opelika location is the sole anchor of Betts Crossing shopping center…
