Beyond the Yellow Tape: World War Two veteran’s death remains unsolved after nearly 25 years

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Columbus police are asking for the public’s help in solving a murder case that has remained unsolved for nearly 25 years.

Oliver May Jr., a 77-year-old retired U.S. Army staff sergeant and World War Two prisoner-of-war camp survivor, was killed on Aug. 12, 2000.

An intruder kicked in the back door of May’s home in the 100 block of 30th Street in Columbus, struck him in the face and stole $200. May was found dead by family members the next day…
