Cold End to 2025, Warming trend for New Year

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The cold weather sticks around through the first several hours of 2026 before a warm up begins Thursday afternoon. Rain eventually is in the forecast, too, by the end of the week and the start of the weekend.

Cold on this New Year’s Eve. Temperatures in the mid 20s to near 30 degrees early will end up in the low 50s during the afternoon under full sunshine. Still a bit breezy, but not as windy as the last couple days.

Clear and cold for New Year’s Eve festivities Wednesday night. Temperatures in the 40s during the evening will fall into the 30s by 10 PM. Lows early Thursday will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s. This is our last freeze for the foreseeable future, perhaps for about two weeks.
