Columbus police release New Year’s Eve and 5-day traffic details

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Officials with the Columbus Police Department released results from their Special Operations detail, which focused on criminal activity and crime reduction, along with a Traffic Unit DUI detail on New Year’s Eve and over five days surrounding the holiday.

The Special Operations Unit’s New Year’s Eve results are listed below:

  • 141 contacts
  • 16 arrests
  • 7 warrants cleared
  • 6 firearms recovered
  • Drugs recovered included fentanyl, meth, cocaine, marijuana, promethazine, and other pills

CPD’s Traffic Unit’s New Year’s Eve results are listed below:

  • 169 contacts
  • 5 arrests
  • 6 DUI arrests
  • 1 firearm recovered

The Traffic Unit’s Five-Day Detail results, including New Year’s Eve are listed below:

  • 892 contacts
  • 37 arrests
  • 20 DUI arrests
  • 3 firearms recovered
  • 1 stolen vehicle recovered
