January thaw underway as clouds hang tough

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Warmer than average temperatures are dominating the forecast as we go through the workweek and even the start of the weekend. It will take a couple cold fronts to change things up over the weekend. The first one will bring rain and some storms Saturday; the second one will drop the temperatures Sunday and next week.

Areas of fog and drizzle again Wednesday seems to be focused in our northern and eastern areas. Otherwise, clouds will give way to partial clearing during the afternoon in most spots. Highs near 70 degrees in LaGrange, 73 in Columbus and Phenix City, closer to 75 degrees in Eufaula and Cuthbert. There is just a slight chance of a light shower.

Becoming mostly cloudy Wednesday night with patchy fog developing late. Lows will be in the low to mid 50s Thursday morning.
