GameStop’s latest closures hit Columbus and Opelika

COLUMBUS, Ga.-OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) – GameStop has closed two stores in the Chattahoochee Valley as part of its ongoing nationwide downsizing.

The Peachtree Mall location in Columbus and the Pepperell Parkway store in Opelika are now listed as permanently closed, with reports indicating both shut down last week.

The video game retailer plans to close more than 400 stores in its latest “comprehensive store portfolio optimization review,” following nearly 600 closures during fiscal year 2024…
